The Healy-Raes: Blood, Sweat & Tears
About the Film
The Healy-Raes: Blood, Sweat & Tears goes behind the most successful political dynasty in modern Ireland. Filmed in Kerry, it follows Michael and Danny Healy-Rae from their general election victory in 2024, through the voting pact that put them at the heart of Government, to Michael's appointment as a junior Minister in 2025 — and the resignation and bitter fallout that followed in 2026.
Filmmaker Jerry Kennelly was given unprecedented access. The camera follows the brothers into their natural habitat: the farms, the plant, the pubs and the parish halls where Kerry politics is actually done. We meet the lesser-known Healy-Raes already jockeying for position, and members of the hundreds-strong "Healy-Rae Army", the volunteers who power the machine, who explain their mission in their own words. We see how local issues get solved, Kerry style.
Fifty years unbeaten. This is how it works.
